Out of Hours
Minor Injuries Unit
This is located at Bognor Regis War Memorial Hospital and is open 9:00am to 5:00pm weekdays for minor accidents and injuries. 24 hour cover is available at the Accident & Emergency Department at St Richards Hospital, Chichester for more serious complaints.
Out of hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.
Life Threatening
Call 999 or go to A&E now if:
- you or someone you know needs immediate help
- you have seriously harmed yourself - for example, by taking a drug overdose
A mental health emergency should be taken as seriously as a medical emergency.
Urgent But Not Life Threatening
Visit an urgent care centre if:
- You have an urgent medical issue requiring on the day attention
Non-urgent
Use NHS 111 if:
- You need help now, but it's not an emergency
There will be someone to provide you with advice and to direct you to a clinician if it is necessary.
About Us
Avisford Medical Group History
Dr John Riley started the Practice in 1959, using two rooms in his own house, which is now Yew Tree Nursing Home.
Dr Owen Lloyd joined him in 1962, and practised from his home in Elmer Road until 1991 when the new surgery was built on land adjacent to the car park.
In 1975, Dr Riley built a new surgery in the grounds of Yew Tree House. This was demolished in 1988 and replaced by the current building.
Dr David Peters joined the practice in 1972, Dr Andrew Foulkes in 1987 and Dr Peter Speer in 2000 following the closure of his surgery in Barnham. All three have now retired as Partners (although Dr Speer still carries out locum work for the Practice). Dr Tej Bansil, Dr Kasia Lisowski and Dr Mark Sidney are the current GP Partners.
Around 12,500 patients, living in Elmer, Middleton-on-Sea, Felpham, Yapton, Barnham, Ford, Walberton, Climping and the surrounding areas are registered with the practice and can be seen at either of our two sites in Middleton- on- Sea and Yapton.
