We are improving access to appointments
From 1st October 2018, a provision has been made across Coastal West Sussex for additional GP and nurse appointments during the evenings and at weekends. The aim is to improve access to GP appointments and to help local people get the help and support they need.
The service is run by Innovations in Primary Care (IPC), a not-for-profit company owned by local GP practices. The clinics are known as ‘GP Access Hubs’ (GPAH) and they run, subject to availability, up to 8pm on weekdays and on Saturdays and Sundays.
GPAH appointments can be either routine or urgent but the doctor or nurse who you see may not be able to view your complete medical history which means that you should not book with GPAH for a follow-up appointment or for test results, etc.
Nurse appointments can include smear tests and family planning issues which can otherwise be hard to arrange due to work or care commitments.
Patients book into GPAH clinics via their normal GP Practice - and may also be offered an appointment at the weekend as a result of calling NHS 111 for urgent health support.
GPAH clinics in the Regis locality are held at Avisford Medical Group’s Yapton surgery and at Maywood Health Centre.
When you attend a GPAH clinic, you will be asked to provide consent for the team to access your basic medical record and to forward notes regarding any care that they provide to be added to your notes. In this way, your GP practice can continue any ongoing care.
Our dedicated team are here to treat those minor ailments that occur as well as providing specialist management of long-term conditions and clinics covering a wide range of healthcare issues. The technology also means you can now do a lot of things from the comfort of your home such as order a repeat prescription or cancel an appointment.
